I kills me every time people have to walk up to their ball. Why don't you put 1 or 2 - 4x8 sheets of plywood under the screen, with a 2x4 under the edge by the screen to make a slant board. Why shag balls all day when the ball can roll back to you. Put some astro turf on the ply wood to make look nice.

This is what I think. This tip totally makes sense. With any club you do the same thing. If you look at Ernie Els swing slow motion from the back, you can see that the butt of the club points towards the ball on his downswing. What you should aim for, is the club parallel as the hands come back to centre of your body and try and compress the ball with 12 degrees of shaft angle, then a divot. The other thing is, when you take the club away on the backswing, note where the butt handle of the club is, it’s pointing towards the ball so you need to bring that back to a similar position which will happen naturally and you should hit the ball square on and gives you room to sling the club through to release. Look at slow motion videos of the pros, and copy them, because they are the bench mark. Video to watch is Ernie Els swing in slow motion and you will get that…ah ahh moment. As he transitions, the butt of the club starts moving in that forwards/ down movement which all the pros do. Another way to think about this the downswing is coming down on a smoother/ correct plane. That’s my view on this subject. Just one last thing, on the downswing try and aim the butt of the club at the ball as this will automatically get the club in the right position.

Another great video. I was at the range yesterday and for the first time realized my forearms didnt maintain the rotation at the start of the downswing. Im now playing around with the feeling of keeping more of that external rotation in the right wrist in the pull phase. (It’s only been one day) but all of a sudden i felt something new- less of a need to push off of my right foot, and power coming from my left foot/ right hip at the bottom of the arc. Again thanks for your coaching!

Stuart, if your face angle is positive with the ball forward in your stance it would seem to me that you are holding off the club or opening the face through the shot, and if all paths are parabolic with the ball forward wouldn't your contact point have to be on the negative side of that path?

I am a 2.7 handicap and have been working hard with coaches. Your grip is spot on. It is a revelation and no one talks about it. It's neutral actually, and the idea of pressing DOWN is key. It keeps the club in control and with power (angle of attack). And this right shoulder move is a cheat code. You teach the opposite of most instructors and it just makes sense this way.

To add to my earlier comment. I went out to practice after watching this video and had so many light bulb moments. Faults, hitting at the ball and not turning properly in the backswing. Not easy to fix. Hitting at the ball was causing deeper than normal divots and loss of clubhead speed. Reaction, focus on changing that. Simple. Had some good results and I eventually started freeing up my swing. Thanks again 👍

Hey, hey hey, I am going mental, I cannot wrap my head around moving the handle to the right, I know all my stinkin heal shots are exactly as you describe, but where in the swing arc does my handle move to the left...? I mean, if you keep your hands in, or close to the body at finish does that accomplish moving the handle to the left....I mean, it does...right...? So, I have been thinking about a high finish and the right forearm covering the left; and that works for me, but than I lose something and I am hitting heal shots, so I must be late....anyway, for swing speed, don't you have to finish with the hands high and not wrapped shoulder level around...I don't have an image or process that clicks with my brain...moving the handle left...the stinkin handle is always gonna ultimately go left...so, whats the distinction...thanks, good golf coaching, but I ain't a good golf student.

Hey mate, fantastic content! I had no idea Trackman could provide such detailed output. That one bad shot had me thinking, "Thank goodness for Stableford!" This content is definitely something I'm going to add to my toolkit. It really makes a strong case for playing to an approach yardages and mastering them, though does that add complexity? I've gotten into the habit of trying to hit off the tee as close as possible, which I think is putting a lot of pressure on my short game. On a side note, I think you would have achieved much better result if on an actual golf course hole. Not saying that it was bad-it was very good. It's just that our brains tend to gauge real distances more accurately than doing it Trackman. I find Trackman difficult when trying to hit a specific yardage. Thanks again! If you're considering more content, have you covered getting out of the rough? It would be great to understand your thought process: when to go for it or take the punishment, and any necessary swing or setup changes for different lies, fairway bunker shots, and so forth. Thanks again!

So I’ve been working on keeping head behind the ball at impact and have some shaft lean to “collecting the ball” in the release. For doing so I feel that I have to tuck my right elbow in and delay the strike a bit, and the results where great when I timed it. Maybe it just comes down to feel more than reality. We can agree on that every pro have the same impact position and the body needs to do stuff to get there. I can’t see how a tucked elbow ain’t one of the things that needs to happen.
